Cicloturismo in Norvegia, seconda parte - Rallarvegen.

Dagali - Haugastol: 50 km circa.

Cycle Tourism in Norway, Part II - Rallarvegen

Dagali - Haugastol: 50 km. Despite traveling alone, I am aware of being at ease. The territory is vast and the perception of space is hard to achieve: the view over the horizon, even the landscape, which also ends in another. So on up to give me the feeling of infinity......

Budapest in bicicletta
by Fernando Da Re, tour started April 2012, submitted 3 May 2012
language: it

Peloponnes Tour 2012
by Iris Mueck, tour started April 2012, submitted 29 April 2012

Road bike Tour to the cradle of the Western culture. Bike Tour Peloponnese Tour 2012 (about 552 kilometers). Preface:

My former managing director, who is an awesome bicyclist today has planned this tour carefully. Our all aim: to ride to the cradle of the world culture. Furthermore, we had a good ghost with us: Oxi Quassel, who explained all the details of the archeological sites and museums. We have visited the archaeological sites & Museums of Athens, Delphi, Olympus, Mycenae, Epidaurus, Corinth & Aigina...; in the very last moment we hit the Greek National Museum at Athens... We spent a day of at the beautiful Island Hydra (no cars...!)

Lasciati condurre....

A journey begins when you begin to think and ends when you stop to remember. My trip to Norway began when I thought of an afternoon. Comfortably seated in the car with some friends we passed two cyclists decked with luggage in tow who were facing a challenging climb. We had already experienced the severity of those places and I promised myself to do it again on two wheels. The charm of those two tough wins that played fearless, shook me.

Mallorca Training Tour 2012
by Iris Mueck, tour started March 2012, submitted 2 April 2012

The Spain Island of Majorca is always a good choice for winter-weary bicyclists to warm up the lazy bones. It is advisable to check the hotel prices which vary from • 20,- to • 70,-. Quoted prices for half board. Attention, never take an unknown hotel below three star. It will never fulfill a bicyclist expectation. Sometimes even three-star hotel are questionable. I have rented the bike by paying the rent via PayPal in advance. The rent is more or less the same as the airfare price to transport a bicycle. My dealer has taken the bicycle right to my hotel. Great service!

On my tour, I have been lucky, only two cold days. Nevertheless, I kept on riding... One week = sweet 740 kilometers. For me, it looked the Puig Major road has been extended (or my 'winter-weary' body came down to an utmost weak point). Enjoy the report and the pictures. Good luck to all followers.

Cicloturismo in Lituanua - Kaunas e Vilnius
by Fernando Da Re, tour started June 2011, submitted 20 March 2012
language: it, en

Third and final description of the tour from Riga to Vilnius.

Although the old town of Kaunas is easily explored on foot, it's worth using the bicycle to see beyond the Old Town and to reach important places in the suburbs. Along the two rivers that flow through and above the hills that surround it, are unusual and picturesque views. The bicycle helps get anywhere and enjoy freedom in their best points. A few kilometers to reach the "Devintojo Forto Muziejus" (written a few more would not hurt) and his monumental area of the fort that was built on the last stand against the Russian invasion.

Greedy Euro Bike Tour
by Marco Bacchin , tour started 2012, submitted 9 March 2012
language: en, it

Da lì a là is an Italian expression meaning roughly hither and thither, and this summarize my will, my restless temper of changing place every so often. I'm biking around Europe stopping from time to time when my attention is captured by an outstanding recipe a traditional food or a weird one. Pedalling alone is just fine, but together with other cyclists, especially from the country I'll be riding at the moment is just fantastic: less fatigue, more fun. You can get a look at the Euro-Tour map to get a gist of what'll be the route I'll follow in this year. If you're biking in the some zone, or nearby or you're going to start something similar and you'll like to have a ride together, let me know. Get in touch! Sys

by Massimo Armati, tour started July 2012, submitted 1 March 2012

" The show must go on", non ho alternative, riparto.

Short tour of the Alpes Maritimes
by Richard Evans, tour started September 2008, submitted 11 February 2012

My tour of the Alpes Maritimes was the most spectacular of all ones I've undertaken to date. Travelling in the first week of September, the weather was good and the roads empty. As expected, the food was great. Some of the overnight stays, however, could have been better. If I had it to do again, I think it could be the perfect trip. Here you will find details of the trip, maps and recommendations on where and where not to stay.

Bicycle tour in the French Alps: completing the collection of paved ascents going above 2000 m
by Györgyi Gábor, tour started June 2011, submitted 2 February 2012

After my previous year, when I cycled up to all of the paved ascents of the Pyrenées above 2000m, for this bicycle tour my aim was to complete the collection of the paved roads above 2000 m in the French Alps. That meant visiting hardly known climbs, like for example Parking du Laus (2110 m) by Lac Allos, or Chalet Laval, Lac Besson (2090 m) above Alpe d’Huez, or the climb to Plan d’Aval and Plan du Lac (2362 m), about which there were no cycling informations on the internet, although it is a wonderful road. Besides these climbs I visited well known cols, passes, where I was indulging in nostalgia. Almost every 2nd day I had few hour long rain, and during the tour I cycled minimum 5 times in rain above 2000 m, but fortunately I was lucky on the „milestone-days”: when I climbed La Bonette (2802 m), Col du Galibier under clear skies and Col de l’Iseran. With cycling up to Courchevel (2030 m) I reached my aim: I cycled up to all of the asphalted roads of the French Alps finishing above 2000 m. The travelogue contains about minimum 15 minutes long videos about each day.

Bicycle tours on steep and wonderful ascents of Tirol & South Tirol (with videos)
by Györgyi Gábor, tour started May 2011, submitted 29 January 2012

In May, 2011 I visited Tirol & South Tirol to cycle up to few ascents going above 2000m which I missed and hadn't already cycled. I returned to the wonderful Passo Gardena, which was the 1st pass above 2000m for me, where I cycled 15 years before. AFter Sella I climbed to Rifugio Gardeccia (1949 m), which was Giro d'Italia stage finish 2 days later, and finished the day with the similarly steep, Pampeago / Zischgalm (2000 m). On my last day I visited one of the hardest ascents of Austria, Idalpe (2320 m) with its 13-17% steep kilometers and finished the day with the hardly known mountain road to Belpiano / Schöneben (2105 m), which is situated by the Lago di Resia, not far from the Italian border. I arrived at the camp at 2 am, after cycling the last 2 hours in rain, but feeling well: during the 4 days I cycled up to another 6 new climbs for me and remained only ca. 35 pieces to have the complete collection of the Alps above 2000 m.
